My husband and I were meeting 4 of our friends for lunch at 2:00 pm. When we arrived, they were seated at the high tables in the bar area. We joined them and the waitress asked what we wanted to drink. I ordered a glass of water with a lemon and my husband ordered a Samuel Adams. He decided he wanted a blue moon instead and looked around to tell the waitress but could not find her. He decided to walk to the bar and tell the bartender before she/he poured the draft. The bartender appeared fine with the fact he changed his mind. He came back to the table, thinking everything was ok. Our waitress "Livie" came back to our table and we all ordered our meals. While we were waiting for our food, we were reminiscing, laughing having a nice time! We were not rude, disruptive or disrespectful. One of our friends can be a demanding customer but nothing that is out of line that would cause a problem. I actually told that to Livie and said that he compensates with tipping very well!! (the man is a millionaire and I'm not exaggerating). She said that she could handle that. Our food was delivered and we ate. My husband and I didn't finish our meals because we had gone out for breakfast with our daughter before she went back to college and both of us have been sick. ( I have bronchitis and my husband has a bad cold.) We asked for to-go container. My husband decided he would have a sm draft. Livie said ok to him and walked away. We waited and waited and looked around to find her. It was odd because there were no waitress or bartender insight! Then the manager walked over to my husband and told him that our waitress (Livie)was uncomfortable serving him another beer. He said ok to the manager and looked at me. I asked what he said and of course he told. My husband and I were speechless, insulted and to mention completely embarrassed! He did not do anything that would remotely indicate that he was intoxicated!!! He did not disrespect Livie, was not valgur, loud, or obnoxious! He held his head high gave his card to me to pay for our meals and left the building. I asked why he was shut off and there was no explaination given. I gave the card to Livie, paid for meal and never said a word to her. My friends did however voiced there opinions loudly and with snide remarks. I did tell them not to bother the decision was made. There was nothing that could be done. I would make sure tomorrow I would notify corporate myself.

I am a bartender myself. I do understand when some appears to be intoxicated, we are by law not to serve a customer. Therefor I will not simply allow my husband to be treated as a "drunk, treated disrespectful by a waitress or a bartender!!!! They apparently are not capable of identifying someone that is intoxicated and when someone had NOTHING to drink all day! The beer that was given to him was his first beer. He was not slurring his word, stumbling, rude, obnoxious, valgur! As a bartender, when you shut the person off, You should be able to walk over and explain why! If you don't have a backbone to tell the person, maybe you should not serve alcohol to customers!

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Chili's is suppose to have a 3 drink limit per person, unless they believe the person came into the restaurant already intoxicated. The manager should have explained what the issue was, i.e.

we believe your husband was already intoxicated when he arrived. I'm sure your husband was extremely embarrassed and if it were me, I would be highly pissed off.

There is nothing you can really do though, as it is at the manager's discretion to refuse service. You might want to try to contact Chili's Corporate directly as I don't believe they monitor this website.
